Rus ‘n Bietjie Agulhas

OM TE BESPREEK, SKAKEL 084584228 of email

Rus ‘n Bietjie is an Afristay Best Value establishmment.

“>KLIK HIERBuilt in 1938 , Rus ‘n Bietjie is one of the last old houses of the L’Agulhas of yesteryear. The house originally only had 2 rooms, but was extended over the years into a 3 bedroomed house with large underroof veranda with wonderful sea views from 2 of the 3 bedrooms, the porch, the kitchen and the lovely stoep and braai area.

Yet, the charm of an old fisherman’s cottage remained,(eg painted cement floors, door frames from old fishing boats and a bathroom with a difference), so that Rus ‘n Bietjie gives you a real sea experience. The house is very rustic with a few cracks here and there, but for most people, this just adds to the charm.

The house has 3 bedrooms, one with double bed, and 2 with 3 single beds each, making it suitable for up to 8 people.

There is only one bathroom with toilet, washing basin and toilet and shower. The toilet seat is slightly lower than usual , but not uncomfortable. There is also an outside toilet, especially useful when having a braai.

Although it is not a seafront house, half the plot has a seafront view, with only a vibacrete wall between you and the sea. It is so near that you cannot only see the sea, but hear, smell and feel it on your skin too.

Children have a big sandpit on the property, and have the advantage that they can go down to the sea when they are old enough, while their parents watch them from the fomfort of the stoep.

Rus a Bietjie is not everybody’s cup of tea, but there are many who love Rus ‘n Bietjie’s special charm as much as I do and prefer it above all other accommodation. It is actually my most popular house.

We stayed at Rus ‘n Bietjie Agulhas in December 2012. If you are looking for good value for money, affordable down to earth accommodation where you can unwind in true west coast style with a sea view from your stoep this is the place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay there again. If you want glitz & glamour this is not your place, go and pay 4 x more for that.

The Groenewald’s were extremely friendly. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us. Until next year.

  4. En die Burgers die volgende:

    Rus ‘n Bietjie – (2-11 Januarie 2013)
